St Matthews Catholic School, Mudgee is a Kindergarten to Year 12 Catholic school within the Bathurst Diocese. Our first Year 11 cohort began at the school in 2015, and completed their Higher School Certificate in 2016.

Adjacent to the CBD, St Matthews Primary Campus is in close proximity to our Parish Church - St Mary's, Mudgee Swimming Pool and various sports grounds. Our new state of the art Secondary Campus is located on Broadhead Road on a spacious 25 acres of land.

Catholic Education in Mudgee has existed since 1861.

In 1874 the Sisters of Mercy arrived and the Convent was built in 1879. The original St Matthews school was built in 1912 with additions in 1936, 1957, 1965 and 2011. In September 1992 the entire pre-1965 section of the school was destroyed by fire. The recent school additions were blessed and opened by Bishop Michael McKenna on Friday 30th March, 2012.

As a Christian educational community we promote meaningful values and vision, based on the life of Jesus Christ. Our school motto is Veritas Magna et Praevalebit (Truth and Excellence will Prevail). This refers to a whole school atmosphere characterised by the search for what is true. The values are expressed not only in our Religious Education curriculum but also in the values that underpin all our Key Learning areas and co-curricular activities.

We respectfully acknowledge the Wiradjuri people, the traditional custodians of the land upon which we gather. We pay our respects to Elders, past, present and future, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes.

We extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

May we all walk gently on this land.
